Safety Net Associates Kent Football League Premier Division
125th Anniversary
Our sponsors have been in touch, on the club's behalf, with other football clubs that were formed in 1885/86 to see if we can arrange a joint celebration.
So far we have heard from Inverness Clachnacuddin who play in the Scottish Highlands League and they want to discuss what we may jointly do. An idea floated by the Clachs (as I Clachnacuddin are known) is for a deputation of supporters to visit for a home game and for this to be reciprocated. Another, more obvious, idea would be to arrange a charity match between our two teams.
Bishop Aukland have sent their best wishes. Again, the idea of a friendly may be unlikely but we will be publishing how their season progresses throughout the year and we will do the same for the Clachs. How about a visit to the Bishops ground?
team we will be playing is Haverhill Rovers who play in the Eastern Counties Division 1. They share our birthday and will come to us on Sunday 7th August, the day after the Challenge Shield against Hythe. We hope to encourage a good turnout as this may end up being the only 125 friendly before the season starts.
As you can see there is not a lot on our programme of events so far but we will be working to change that in the coming weeks and months and it is clearly a time for our supporters to join in and come up with ways we could mark this stage in our history and any suggestions you can come up with would be gratefully received.
Response from Arsenal FC
Dear Mr Kennett,
Many thanks for your email regarding a joint 125 anniversary celebration.
Unfortunately however, we are unable to partake in such activities due to certain club restrictions.
As you would appreciate we receive many requests to collaborate with other Clubs and although we like to assist our supporters wherever possible, our contractual and legal commitments prevent us from granting your request at this time. Therefore, I am sorry to say that we are unable to help you on this occasion.
Thank you for your continued support of Arsenal.
Kind regards,
Marketing

And one from the Football League
Trevor,
Let me firstly congratulate Herne Bay Football Club on celebrating 125 years in football a fantastic achievement.
Whilst appreciating this is a time for celebration for the club, due to the ever-increasing number of requests received for support – unfortunately too many for us to be able to accommodate, The Football League opts to concentrate primarily on its own charitable appeals. Our chosen charity partner for 2010-11 is Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Let me take this opportunity to wish you every success with your fundraising and, as it appears you might already have done, we would recommend you approach clubs independently to see if they can offer any support. If a charity match with a football league club can be arranged for our chosen charity then we will gladly offer support.
Regards,
