Doug Smith

Doug started coming to Winch's Field in the late 1980's, joined the committee in 1994 and stayed on until 2005 when his interest turned to his son's youth side. Doug still gets to most of Bay's home matches.
He was regularly seen with his clipboard and stopwatch on match days as he adjudicated the timing of the 'golden goal' and as the club's Press Officer his match reports were regularly seen in the local press.
Without doubt, though, Doug's greatest and most lasting contribution has been his tireless research which has produced this exceptional archive including League tables, match reports, anecdotal stories both pre and post Winch's Field which, in non-league football, is surely second to none.
