Dover Athletic 1-1 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to face Dover again in the league after last week's excellent victory over the same opponants.
Bay knew they would have to be ready for the challenge as Dover would secure the league title with a victory and their tails would be up.
The game started at a good pace with Dover looking to get off the mark early.
Bay were under pressure and looked to defend well and catch Dover on the break.
The game was an open one with Dover creating a couple of decent efforts which James Langley made two good saves from.
Sam taylor, once again playing up front on his own, was holding the ball up well
with bay looking to support with numbers when going forward.
Bay were awarded a penalty after moving the ball from the back to up front quickly. Scott
Crane grabbed the ball with confidence and stepped up to send the keeper the wrong way. 0-1
Dover came at bay and got an equaliser when the bay defence stepped back and played the forward on and he put away a great chip over Langley 1-1 game on.
At half time the scores were level.
Bay came out in the second half and had chances late in the game to get all three points
Dover threw everything they had at Bay but they stood up strongly and came away with a share of the points
Every player whilst on the field rolled up their sleeves and showed great resilience and determination
With one game left they could finish third or fourth ,

Herne Bay 3-1 Dover Athletic
After last weeks defeat against margate Bay had an almost full squad to choose from and welcomed an unbeaten Dover side.
Bay adopted a positive attitude from the start. They worked hard to win the ball and kept good possession, working the ball out wide at every opportunity.
Bay, with five in midfield, dominated this area and Dover struggled.
Always dangerous at set pieces, Dover nearly caught Bay out but Langley managed a one handed save to keep the scores level early in the game.
Bay's high tempo passing was creating opportunities and could have had a higher score line than 1-0 at half time
Bays goal was a well worked effort from back to front. Adam Woolcote received the ball about 30 yards out with his back to goal. He touched the ball out of his body, turned and hit a truly spectacular curling shot into the top right corner.
Bay came out in the second half and continued to take the game to Dover. Every single player on the pitch contributed to the way the side were playing.
Dover reverted to five in midfield to match Bay and went three at the back. Bay still created chances and saw Dover's keeper make a couple of saves from Philby and Taylor.
After a neat move Harris had drifted in from the right and tricked the Dover defence and was fouled inside the box and awarded a penalty
He stepped up himself to take the spot kick but blazed it over the bar , this seemed to give Dover a lift and they now had a spell with some long throws and corners.
After a soft free kick was awarded they got a goal from that set piece and were now level
after a brief spell of pressure. Would Bay go on to regret missed chances?
Bay continued to press and work the ball around well and scored a second after Joe Nelder got the ball just inside the box, moved the ball from his right to left and hit it into the bottom left of the goal.
With Bay 2-1 up Dover did give them a few nervous moments with balls going in and around key areas, however,
Bay scored a third through Scott Crane after a lung-busting surge up-field he followed up a rebound and smashed a low drive into Dover's goal.
This has to go down as Bay's best all-round performance and they could have won by a bigger margin.
Each and every player's performance was outstanding and must be repeated when the two sides meet again at Deal's ground Wednesday night 13th may k/o 7-30

Margate 4-2 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to Margate's Hartsdown Park with several key players missing due to injuries and suspensions so
with 5 under 16 boys in the squad this was always going to be a tall order.
Mat Oakley starting at right back and Dean Lewis, who is normally a centre back, playing as striker with three other u16 players also on the bench.
Bay took the game to Margate and were playing all the football and competing all over the pitch, winning personal battles and duly took the lead through Matt Harris who, without his normal strike partner, lead the line well.
Margate got an equalizer after their linesman failed to flag when the ball was clearly over the touchline in front of bays management team. The wide man crossed to give a simple tap in. This said, Bay should still have dealt with the cross.
The rain was now getting heavy and, mixed with the wind, this was not a day for the faint hearted. Bay went further behind and went in at the end of the half 3-1 down.
Considering the performance Bay had put in Margate were lucky to be leading although their second was a well worked set piece from a corner which 'keeper Langley could have handled better.
Bay still took the game to Margate in the second half but Langley panicked with a back pass and Margate got their 4th. Langley did make two superb saves to keep Bay in the hunt and they changed their shape got one back and then threw everything at Margate.
Young Oakley put in a man of the match performance at right back and looks to have a bright future in the game.
On another day Bay would have got something from this game but it was not to be.
Next Thursday night Bay have the League Leaders Dover to compete with and will look to take their unbeaten record away from them.

Herne Bay 2-2 Faversham Town
Bay entertained folkestone under fllodlights at a time when both teams are fighting for points to keep pressure on all the teams around us in what is a very close divison.
Bay went behind when a ball was cleared out from a corner straight to a folkestone player who hit back straigh were it came from. 0-1
As usual Bay were playing good football but lacked any real tempo. However, They got back in the game after good work down the right and Sam Taylor slotted home from inside the box.
Bay went further ahead when Langley came racing out from his goal to clear a long ball over the top with the Folkestone striker bearing down on him. He hit his clearance back down the middle which Woolcote read and controled brillatnly and cliped a wonderfull lob over the advancing keeper.
Bay went in 2-1 up and continued where they had left off but as the game progressed they droped deeper and invitied Folkestone on to them.
Folkstone were keeping up the pressure although Bay were defending well. They got an equalizer with ten minutes left. A shot from the edge of the box was tipped on to the bar by Langley only to see the ball loop in the air to the tallest player on the pitch and he headed it in .
On reflection a draw was a fair result but does neither side any good with their push for honours.

Ashford Town 0-6 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to Ashford after a midweek 3-1 defeat at Faversham in which at the very least Bay deserved a draw after creating good chances and a missed penalty.
Bay today were playing on a 3g astro surface, which suited us down to the ground. We
started brightly and kept good possession of the ball. Ashford, with five in midfield, could not contain us and we took the lead after 14 minutes when Matt Harris finished off a fine move. Bay went further ahead after another good move which saw Harris play a ball across the box for Sam Taylor to slide in for 2-0.
Bay kept up the pressure and Ashford gave away a free kick inside the left hand side of the box for a back pass.
Joe Nelder gave a clever flick to Harris who finished from six yards for his second.
Now leading 3-0, Bay kept playing good football and scored a fourth after three headers saw Taylor pick up the ball in a good position and with one touch hit a shot which gave the keeper no chance.
Half time 4-0
On previous occasions Bay have come out in the second half of games when cruising and let their opponents back in. Today they kept up their good passages of play and Oliver Jones scored, hitting a low drive from just outside the box.
Ashford's keeper was a busy man making several important saves to keep the score line down. Bay did go on to score another after a long throw from Nelder, Lee Philby flicked the ball on, Ashford cleared to Harris who hit a powerful shot for his hatrick.
Bay now go back top of the table after an all round brilliant performance and welcome Folkestone on thursday evening in a must win game.

Whitstable Town 2-3 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to Whitstable for their third meeting of the season having won the other two
Bay began the game well and were outplaying their local rivals and took the lead when Anthony Searle broke up play down the right. He switched play to the left to Joe Nelder who played a ball to Tom Willett. Willett fed a ball through to Sam Taylor who finished off a great move to put Bay 1 up.
Searle again broke up play down the right and travelled up the pitch with the ball then played a neat one two with Taylor to get a shot off. The Whitstable keeper got a hand to it but Searle followed in to score Bay's second.
Bay were in control and playing good football. They went further ahead when a ball from the left found Taylor who controlled the ball with great skill and scored his second with a neat finish.
Now 3-0 nil up in 35 mins, Bay took their foot off the gas and allowed Whitstable back into the game. They created chances with the impressive number 9 having two clear sights of goal.
Half time and Bay were still three up. They came out in the second half and did not produce the same first half performance. Whitstable we awarded a penalty which was put away and this gave them a lift. They were now starting to cause more problems and got a second. Although Bay created more chances they were unable to extend their lead. It was a tense last quarter.
Bay came out 3-2 winners and now look forward to the next few weeks with important games that will decide their final league position

Folkestone Invicta 6-0 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to the buzzlines stadium looking to continue their recent good league form.
Folkestone started brightly and were getting amongst bay to stop them playing their usual passing game
Although not playing with their normal swagger bay were starting to settle and create some opportunities
nut they were caught out when they won a corner and Folkestone cleared down the right and Davies found himself outnumbered. langley raced to the left hand side of his box only to be beaten by a low cross which left a simple tap in. 1-0 down at the break.
Everything seamed to be going against Bay. The ball not running for us and every decision going for Folkestone
with Nelder and Dadd both booked in the half for soft fouls. On a normal day they would not have been booked but this was never going to be a normal day with Bay constantly being the victims of the referees whistle.
Bay came out in the second half and conceded within the first two minutes. Now 2 down Bay starting to play better but there was to be another twist when Dadd had what can only be described as a coming together with the forward.
The referee decided to give Dadd his second yellow and Bay were down to ten men. They went further behind to a penalty 3-0.
Nelder received his second yellow card soon after Dadd, both players being unlucky to be booked twice for competing in a mans game.
Bay went further behind and ended up losing 6-0. To their credit they continued to create chances and show good character.
The next game is away to local rivals Whitstable 11th April having played twice already and Bay winning both.

Herne Bay 6-1 Whitstable Town
Bay entertained local rivals Whitstable in the league after already knocking them out of the kent cup.
They would be looking to get something out of this game and end our five win run.
Bay started the game creating several good chances in the early stages only to see Whitstable's keeper in good form keeping his side in the game.
Bay took the lead when, after good pressure down the right, Taylor found Nelder with a reverse pass. Nelder took on his man and slotted past the keeper with a low left footed shot.
Bay continued to play good football with Whitstable looking to catch us out with runners from deep but we were holding a high line and catching their forwards offside on several occasions. On the stroke of half time, however, they broke the trap and equalised.
Bay were the better side in the first half. They came out for the second half and continued to take the game to their rivals and dully took the lead when Cole cleared to Taylor who headed to Harris who then played a through ball which Taylor took on the up with a deft flick over the advancing keeper 2-1.
Bay then went further ahead when Willett delivered a corner into the near post and Taylor rose to flick the ball into the far side of the goal 3-1.
Bay created further chances only to see the Whitstable keeper make at least three great saves (and whilst he was suffering a bad leg injury too).
Dance won the ball inside his own half went on a run beating four Whitstable players, found Nelder who hit a low left foot drive from just outside the box 4-1.
Harris was dropping and linked the play and got a well deserved goal when Willet found him with a excellent ball which he put away 5-1.
Bay went on to get a sixth when substitute Flood saw his shot come off the stand in keeper and Nelder was at hand to thump the ball into the net for his hatrick.
The Bay second half performance was too much for their rivals and as this game went on there was only ever going to be one outcome.

Deal Town 3-6 Herne Bay
This report by Kurtis Dadd
With a win today Bay could go second in the table after getting off to a slow start to the season.
Deal went ahead from a corner with the centre back creeping in late to head them in front.
Bay recovered from this set-back creating chance after chance with the Deal stand-in keeper making several saves from close range efforts.
How long could deal keep bay out? Not long as it happened. Taylor picked the ball up out wide and his cross was defected into the Deal net by the same player who had given them the lead.
Bay continued to pile on the pressure and were rewarded when Willett wide on the left cut inside to unleash a great shot from 25yards to put
Bay 2-1 up at the Break.
The second half began with Taylor bursting through on goal and slotting the ball across the keeper. Now Bay were 3-1 up Deal pulled one back with a curling shot to the right of Langley in the Bay goal.
Taylor then went on to score his second after taking the ball across the box and finishing from a tight angle 4-2. Deal scored again with a shot from just outside the area 4-3.
Nelder got a goal after knocking on the door several times only to have been stopped by the keeper and missing from 4 yards but to his credit he kept going and got a goal from inside the area after Deal's defence failed to clear their lines 5-3.
Philby was not going to be outdone by his midfield partner and got the sixth after clever footwork and slotting home with a side-foot.
On a day when Bay were not at their best they showed that they will always keep on going. This said, on another day they could have had double figures
After recent performances they have set a high standard so with local rivals Whitstable coming to town next week this Bay side are full of confidence and look forward to this encounter.

Herne Bay A-A Hollands and Blair
The u18s went to Hollands and Blair's ground as Winch's was not playable. Having already played at their place and come away with the points, Bay were hoping to do the same again.
Their pitch was not looking too great. The wide areas were fine but it was a little sticky through the middle. The referee allowed the game to start. Hollands started brightly and they had two good chances which keeper Langley kept out.
Bay settled and started to play good football and took the lead when Oliver Jones won the ball on the edge of his own area followed by a neat turn he found Harris who linked up with his strike partner Taylor who held off two Blair defenders to score.
Bay were now dominating the game and after a foul on the left hand side, Willett delivered a great ball which Nelder rose to glance a header past the keeper.
Bay went on to score a third through Philby who's goal was a replica finish of when the two teams met last time receiving the ball just outside the box, shifting it out of his feet and striking the ball into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance.
Bay could have had a fourth after a good passage of play, Harris saw his shot come back off the post.
The pitch was now cutting up badly but Bay were moving the ball around well and using the wide areas to their advantage. The ball was stopping through the centre areas which made it hard for the central midfielders
Hollands were awarded a penalty after a sloppy tackle and pitch conditions not helping. Langley saved the pen only for the ref to award a re-take for which Langley went the same way and saved again.
At half time the referee voiced his concerns for the players safety with the ball not always running true.
The game was underway for the second half with Bay still in control and setting a good tempo but
after 52 mins the referee decided that with one or two miss-timed tackles it was becoming too dangerous to continue. Bay would have gone on to win convincingly but these young lads have a bright future ahead of them and their safety is paramount.
MATCH ABANDONED AFTER 52 MINS

Herne Bay 4-2 Sittingbourne
Bay found themselves two down in the first twenty minutes. After conceding a corner, two bay defenders and the keeper didn't deal with a near post ball so it grazed langley's gloves and went straight in. Bay then conceded another which was a sloppy goal , to their credit they started to up their game and got on top of this Sittingbourne side who were playing three upfront which Bay got to grips with.
Bay started playing good ,quick passes and worked a good opening down the right with Harris and Taylor combining for Harris to tap in from 8 yards .
Bay kept pressing and were working hard whenever they lost possession.
With the ball in Langley arms he threw out quickly to the right back Davies and he passed to Jones who played the ball inside to the Nelder who played out wide to Harris who placed a ball into Taylor, who finished well across the keeper for the equalizer.
Bay had turned defence into attack with pace and good movement. Bay had also hit the bar and the ball crossed the line only for it not to be given. 2-2 and game on at
Half time.
Bay came out in the second half and took the game to sittingbourne with purpose and desire wanting a victory and keeping good possession. They took the lead after a neat through ball put Taylor one on one with the Sittingbourne keeper and there was only ever be one outcome 3-2.
Sittingbourne hit the post , bay hit the bar again,
Taylor and Harris were working sittingbourne's back line and put the pressure on and were rewarded for their hard work when Taylor nicked the ball and made it 4-2 to complete his hatrick.
After the early set back the whole side worked hard to get back into the game
With a great work rate from back to front and never say die attitude playing good football they came out deserved winners and now go into the Q/F of the 1-20-1 cup to face either Folkestone or Dover

Herne Bay 4-3 Sittingbourne
After only one game in nine weeks it was good to be able to play this match thanks to a couple of dry days.
Bay conceded a goal in the first six minutes, a good strike from outside the box. Bay were slow out of their blocks.
Now one down they started to impose themselves on the game and started to dominate.
They equalized through Taylor from outside the area with a volley into the bottom corner . Bay then took the lead when Taylor and Harris created an opening with a neat one two for Harris to drill the ball across the box and Taylor to tap in his second.
Sittingbourne equalised from a corner with a good header , bay were still on top and regained the lead when Nelder got through one on one with the keeper and they went in at the interval leading 3-2.
Bay came out in the second half and continued to play good football and Taylor grabbed his third after good work from harris who found himself bearing down on the keeper with the ball bouncing of him, Taylor followed up to slot the ball home.
Sittingbourne kept on going and scored again and to make it a nervy last 15mins

Ramsgate 1-0 Herne Bay
On the two previous occasions when these side have met in the league home and away a total of some
17 goals were scored.
Unfortunatley this game was not as previous matches and only had one goal which went to ramsgate. A corner was cleared to the edge of the box but a Ram's player put in a good shot past stand-in keeper Crane, who had no chance with the low drive into the corner.
Bay had players injured and were resting players and this gave squad players their chance to impress and also gave us a chance to include two u16s in the squad.
Bay gave the rams number 7 too much time on the ball in midfield and allowed him to dictate the game in the first half.
Moody -smith went off injured having been playing really well over the past few weeks and this was a blow but Kutis Dadd switched from right back to centre back and put in a man of the match performance.
Bay came out in the second half much more determined and looked like they could get something out of the game but unfortunately this was not to be .

Kent County Youth Cup Second Round
Sunday 22nd November 2009
Whitstable Town 0-1 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to local rivals whistable in the kent county cup second round. After last weeks disappointment in the league they wanted to get back to winning ways.
Bay had whistable on the back foot from the first whistle, creating some good chances and having at least six corners in the first twenty mins.
Whistable's lively duo up front had chances but Langley in goal made two superb saves. Giving away possession in key area's could have our own undoing.
Bay's passing game was causing problems and they took the lead through Taylor after good work down the left from Nelder .
There were a few familiar faces in the whistables side, players from last years u16s, looking to make their mark in the game with Wells putting himself about in midfield.
This was always going to be a tough encounter with local rival's bragging rights at stake.
Whistable broke through and the wind almost blew the ball in the goal when it had looked like it was going wide. Moody-Smith saw the danger and cleared the ball against the post and out. Lluck was with Bay rather than against unlike the previous week.
Bay lead one nil at the break and came out in the second half and continued to play their passing game with the wind now against them but they were still creating chances and should have gone further ahead when both Cole and Willett blazed over the bar from close range.

Herne Bay 2-5 Margate
Bay came into this game unbeaten in their last four games and full of confidence which showed with bay scoring in the third minute when Nelder received the ball out wide left and played a low ball into the near post which Sam Taylor stroked home to put bay one up.
Margate equalised against the run of play with Bay having eight corners and Margate’s impressive keeper keeping us from going further in front.
Bay did go two-one up. After some neat football Matt Harris and Taylor combined to open up the Margate defence for Taylor to score his second.
Margate drew level again and this gave them the belief that they could get something out of this game.
Bay should have had the game wrapped up by half time and were made to pay after a lapse of concentration and found themselves 3-2 down
With Bay now chasing the game , Margate got another when Bay failed to challenge for the second ball and a cross into the box was put away.
Margate scored a fifth in the dying minutes. The football Bay played in the first half should have got them something out of the game but Margate kept on going and got there rewards. Ramsgate 2-4 Herne Bay
Bay travelled to ramsgate. When the sides last met there were eleven goals, Bay losing out 6-5
The weather was heavy rain with strong winds and conditions were tricky underfoot but
both sides looked to play a passing game.
Bay created plenty of chances only to see the Ramsgate keeper make some very good saves.
However, Bay did manage to break through with a scrambled goal from Tom Willett.
The conditions got worse throughout the first half and there was no further score at the break.
Ramsgate equalised early in the second half but Bay were still creating chances. They took the lead after a shot was blocked, a volley was cleared and a header cleared off the line, it flew out towards Joe Nelder who, with a diving header, managed to get it in the net to put Bay 2-1 up
With Bay still creating lots of chances Ramsgate were living a charmed life with goal line clearances
and the Rams keeper making several decent saves.
Ramsgate caught Bay on the break down the right and scored after captain Bleau slipped as he was about to clear off the line.
With chances still being created Bay took the lead again. After some neat play out wide Willett delivered a ball into the box and Matt Harris side footed home.
Harris went on to score again. This was the best of the four goals. After breaking up a Rams attack the ball was played from back to front with Harris running between two defenders to finish by lobbing over the advancing keeper with a sliding chip.
Bay changed to a normal 4-4-2 to stop Ramsgate's main threat out wide on the right.

THEY WENT TWO UP WHEN CRANE WON THE BALL AND FOUND WILLETT WHO SWITCHED PLAY WITH AN EXCELLENT BALL TO NELDER IN SPACE ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX WHICH HE PUT AWAY WITH EASE.

Herne Bay 4-3 Guru Nanak
Bay got their cup campaign under way against central division Guru , looking to build on last weeks performance.
As in previous weeks Bay started well and were unlucky to go in at half time trailing 1-0
The second half saw the introduction of Nelder in central midfield who turned in the box and tucked one away in the bottom corner to level the scores.
Bay were now creating more chances and taking the game to their opponents. They took a deserved lead through Taylor. He found himself one on one with the keeper and finished well.
Bay continued playing well but Guru equalized, this was only a temporary set back as bay kept on going and forced a corner from which Tom willett scored directly.
Sam taylor found himself in space and delivered a ball to the far post which was defected into the Guru goal to take bay 4-2 up
This young bay side are growing in confidence and playing good football

Bay duly took the lead , when Joe Nelder put away a low left foot shot just inside the box ,which gave the keeper no chance. The first half ended with Bay 1-0 up.
Bay came out in the second half and continued where they left off. However, Borden got an equalizer with their first real shot .
Bay kept going and scored again through Matthew Harris after some neat football. Nelder fed a great through ball and Harris found himself one on one with the keeper and slotted home with confidence for his sixth goal of the season.
Borden equalized again. Bay were unfortunate as langley made a good first save at the feet of Bordens forward only to slip when the ball broke out to another Borden player.
Bay kept going and were still dominating the game and got their third through Scott Crane.
Bay created lots of chances and on another day would have won by a bigger margin.
Stephen Davies was unluckly not to score as Bordens keeper made a couple of decent saves to deny him a birthday celebration goal

Ramsgate went in level at the break.

As in previous weeks Bay finished strongly but after leaving themselves a mountain to climb just fell short although a valiant effort

Herne Bay 3-2 Ashford Town
The opening game of the season saw bay matched up against Ashford Town.
Bay started brightly and, with flare and good passages of play, totaly dominated the game.
They opened the scoring through Matthew Cole with a fine finish after some neat play.

Matthew Harris steped up and slotted home the penalty in the bottom left hand corner.
Sam taylor scored a third when he broke through to dink a cheeky header over the advancing keeper.
Bay looked good throughout the first half, playing great football and being defensively sound and should have carried on were they left off . But didn't.
Ashford to their credit came out fighting at the start of the second half and pulled a goal back and went on to score another .
Bay had not repeated there first half performance and ashford took full advance of this.
Rhys taylor was called upon to make two fanatastic saves.
Eventually Bay came out 3-2 winners and, on their overall performance, deserved the points.
